In our view, which will be substantiated throughout the progressive devolvement of the work presented here, the field of electromagnetic research has entered during the last few years a turning point. This critical juncture is related to two major changes in our current viewpoint: fundamental pressure emerging internally from within the very discourse of electromagnetics as such, and the enormous demands imposed on us by the industrial and technological evolution of the contemporary world. Those two stimuli may appear for the time being unrelated to each other.
